Partnerships that work
Guest post from Sharon Robinson, SMHC Task Force Member, and President and Chief Executive Officer, American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education:
Relevant to the work of SMHC, here are two documents from AACTE’s recent Day on the Hill (June 18-19th, 2008). The theme of the visits was Partnerships That Work: Turning Around Low-Performing Schools. As these documents attest, schools of education in many communities are key players in improving urban education through enhanced teacher quality and student achievement.
The first document provides information, including testimony, from our congressional briefing on June 19 from representatives of five exemplary partnerships involving schools of education, and K-12 schools or districts.
The second is an AACTE publication entitled, Partnerships That Work: Turning Around Low-Performing Schools (June 2008), which includes selected profiles of 21 partnerships between teacher preparation programs and PK-12 schools located in 17 different states.
