Through a Task Force, this Web site, an Annual Conference, Case Studies and a National Reform Network, the SMHC action project will share and implement nationwide effective practices to recruit, train, retain and reward top teacher and school administrator talent. SMHC's core resources: The Odden/Kelly paper defining SMHC, a paper on talent management in the private sector, case studies on leading-edge SMHC practices (forthcoming) and a set of papers on teacher compensation.

Residency Program Prepares Boston Teachers

As SMHC is completing case studies of leading edge districts and organizations focused on recruiting top teacher and principal talent into urban schools, teacher and principal residency programs are emerging as one important component of a multi-faceted set of strategies. The Boston Teacher Residency Program has been identified as one of the best such programs by many analysts.
